THE GREAT METAPHOR

HISTORY & NARRATIVE

THE GREAT METAPHOR

When in 2009, the acclaimed author José Saramago traveled from Lisbon to Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, crossing the landscapes and places portrayed in his renowned novel "A Viagem do Elefante". One of the goals he expressed was to make that trip the beginning of an itinerary that would take more visitors to the interior of the country, the one that “it is not possible to describe in words. It is possible, but it is not worth it.”
It is better to go through it, discover it and experience it.

REDISCOVERING PORTUGAL

By stone paths that tell stories of the ancestors, by strong walls built to open new routes and by ancient trees that give colour to our surroundings, we are invited to follow a route inspired by a work that portrays the journey of each one.

There are no limits to who enjoys dreaming. The path is harsh, but the reward is greater than any treasure in this world. Is there anything more magical than traveling within ourselves? There is not.
